USF Creative Arts announces summer workshops and camp

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Saint Francis Creative Arts program will offer a variety of workshops and a camp this summer for students interested in drawing, sculpture, music, photography and more.

Learning opportunities are available for elementary, middle school and high school students, as well as community members. The workshops and camps include:

High School Summer Visual Art Academy
July 12-23
9 to 11:30 a.m.; 1 to 3:30 p.m.

Students can choose a morning or afternoon workshop, or both to make a whole day of it. Subjects include sculpture, mixed media, photography, drawing, 3D modeling and animation, prints on fabric, illustration and graphic design. The participant fee is $125 per two-week workshop.

High School Summer Music Technology Academy
July 12-16, 19-23
9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The academy will include a Pop/Rock Workshop from July 12 to 16, featuring many different aspects of the music industry and audio production processes. A Hip Hop and R&B Workshop will be July 19 to 23 and includes singing, rapping, beat-making and recording studio and music production techniques. Participant fee is $125 per week.

Youth Summer Art Program
July 12-30
9 to 11 a.m.

First- to eighth-grade students can participate in one, two or three weeks of the summer art program which includes Follow the Line (create a variety of lines using interesting materials and tools), Enchanted Worlds (creating an imaginary world using a variety of materials) and Character Creation (creating a character and their environment). Participant fee is $80 per week.

Community Summer Visual Art Workshops
July 26-30
9 to 11:30 a.m.; 1 to 3:30 p.m.; 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Community members are encouraged to participate in a variety of workshops. Topics include photography (commercial arts or experimental arts), “No Press, No Problem” printmaking without a press, Unity game development, found object abstraction sculpture, figure drawing, bookbinding, and “Contemporary Art: One Move Theory.” Participant fee is $75 per workshop.

City Strings Summer Camp
July 26-30

This camp includes classes in string orchestra, chamber music, and violin, viola and cello ensemble. Students must have at least two years of playing experience, with classes for intermediate to advanced. The camp will culminate with a musical presentation on July 30. Cost is $280.
