USF to host summer healthcare camp for 8th through 12th grade students

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Saint Francis will hold a summer camp for students interested in exploring careers in healthcare.

“The World Belongs to You: A Passport to Your Future in Healthcare,” is open to students entering 8th through 12th grade this fall. The camp will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. on June 11 and 12 in the Doermer Health Sciences Center, 2701 Spring St.

The camp is run by the USF School of Health Sciences with some funding provided by a grant from Ball State University Northeast Indiana Area of Health Education Center (NEI-AHEC).

Cost is $30 per student, with lunch included. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify. Spots are limited to 80 campers and will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration is available at

Students will participate in fun, hands-on activities to learn about various health care professions, including Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Nurse Anesthesia, Nurse Practitioner, Nursing, Nutrition, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, Radiology, Social Work and Surgery. Athletic Training and Exercise Science are new to this year’s camp. Campers will also participate in a service project.
