USF family mourns the recent loss of Paul “Roy” Romanowski

USF lost a friend with a kind heart and a big personality with the passing of Paul “Roy” Romanowski on Dec. 22.

Roy, as his friends called him, was a soccer player and art major who earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from USF in 1996. He knew how to light up a room with his contagious personality and used his gift for making everyone feel like a friend. He touched many lives and was a beloved brother, uncle and friend.

“He was a very kind, fun, and gifted artist,” USF School of Creative Arts founding dean Rick Cartwright wrote on Facebook.

Romanowski lived in Lemont, Ill., and is survived by his parents Frank and Grace Romanowski, his siblings Frank (Sally) Romanowski, Tim (Amy) Romanowski, Perry (Shannon) Romanowski, Alina Czub, Fay (Lonnie) Hensley, and Cynthia Romanowski; and his nieces and nephews, Olivia, Cloe, Lucas, Benjamin, Zachary, Ethan, Ty, Cayley, Riley, and Aubrey.

A funeral mass was held Dec. 29 at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church in Lemont.
