USF Launches Two Campus Construction Projects
July 11, 2017
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Saint Francis is embarking on two signature projects that will more vividly demonstrate the Catholic integration of faith and reason.
A new freestanding St. Francis Chapel in the center of campus will provide easy access for all members of the campus community to the celebration of the Eucharist, and offer a place for prayer and reflection for all visitors.
An expansion and modernization of Achatz Hall of Science will further strengthen the university’s already high-quality and in-demand science and healthcare programs. As a Catholic university, our curricula includes the interconnection of faith and reason to educate students to their fullest potential.
“The impact of these two projects, in the heart of the Spring Street campus, will significantly transform our campus environment,” said USF President Sister M. Elise Kriss, OSF. The St. Francis Chapel is targeted for completion in 2018 along with phase one of the new science laboratories, with the final back renovation of the existing laboratories to be completed in 2019.
The community is invited to a groundbreaking ceremony on July 24 at 9:30 a.m. at the Spring Street campus. Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades will bless the sites, and along with university and community leaders, will break ground to commemorate the occasion and officially launch the projects. Fundraising for the $22.7 million Faith & Reason Capital Campaign will continue throughout the construction timeframe.
Founded in 1890 in the Catholic Franciscan tradition, the University of Saint Francis offers more than 70 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs through the School of Health Sciences, School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Keith Busse School of Business and Entrepreneurial Leadership and School of Creative Arts.
