June 1, 2017

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – University of Saint Francis freshman Marissa Singer continued her string of Lady Cougars ‘firsts’ becoming an NAIA Women’s Golf All-America selection, as chosen by the NAIA-Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-America Committee. A total of 45 student-athletes were honored, with 15 individuals being named to the first, second and third teams.

Singer (Noblesville, IN / Guerin Catholic H.S.) was named to the third team after she finished in a tie for 21st at the recently completed 2017 NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship last week at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Under the direction of Head Coach Tim Alexander, Singer became the first member of the USF women’s golf program to qualify for the NAIA Championship by becoming the first USF women’s golfer to win the Crossroads League Championship title in the 12th season for the women’s program.

Singer finished with a 229 (74-75-80) for the 54-hole CL Championship, a record score. She finished at 236 (79-75-82) at the NAIA Championship, which had to be cut from a scheduled 72 holes to 54 because of weather delays. Singer made the cut after the second round as one of 40 individuals including ties to earn a berth in the final day of competition. Singer finished her freshman season at USF as medalist in seven of 12 tournaments.
